Rupert Sanders on Affair With Kristen Stewart: ‘Everyone Makes Mistakes’
Fans of Twilight
couple Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson were pretty upset in 2012, when
photos were published showing her and Rupert Sanders, the director of her movie
Snow White and the Huntsman, kissing. But, of course, those directly
involved had it much worse.
Nearly five years later, Sanders
is speaking out about what he learned from that difficult time after the photos
were published in Us Weekly.
“You never know what’s coming in
life,”
Sanders, who’s now 46 and promoting his latest movie, Scarlett Johansson’s Ghost
in the Shell, told Metro.
“Around every corner there’s something
unexpected, and that’s life. You just have to brush yourself off and continue
moving forward the best you can. Everyone makes mistakes. I am bound to make
more mistakes, and I wouldn’t expect my life to be exciting if I didn’t.”
At the time that the photos were
released, Sanders had been married to model Liberty Ross for about a decade and
they already had their two children.
“I love them with all my heart,”
he said
in a quickly issued apology.
“I am praying that we can get through this
together.”
Evidently, they couldn’t, and
Ross filed for divorce in January 2013. She married music producer Jimmy Iovine
in 2016.
Stewart, who was just 21 at the
time, issued an apology too.
“I’m deeply sorry for the hurt
and embarrassment I’ve caused to those close to me and everyone this has
affected,”
she said.
“This momentary indiscretion has jeopardized the most
important thing in my life, the person I love and respect the most, Rob. I love
him. I love him. I’m so sorry.”
Sadly, Stewart and Pattinson
went their separate ways by 2013, although that’s more likely due to their age
than the infamous photos. Stewart has since moved on to dating model Stella
Maxwell, while Pattinson’s engaged to musician FKA twigs.
The actress reflected on the
tough times she faced around the time of the Sanders affair in a July 2015
interview with Marie Claire. “I lit my universe on fire and watched it
burn,” she said. “Speaking very candidly, it was a really traumatic period in
my early 20s that kick-started something in me that was a bit more feral.”
Stewart and Sanders have yet to
work together again, and neither worked on the sequel to their big-budget
movie, but they’re both still very much working.
“If you took people off the
table for a momentary lapse,” Sanders said, “there would be no one making art.”
And very few juicy celeb
memoirs.
Rockets and Sparks! Inseparable Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott “Definitely Looked Like a Couple” at PDA-Filled NBA Game
A week after hitting up
Coachella together, Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott were spotted getting cuddly
at an NBA playoff game in Houston.
According to an onlooker at the
Houston Rockets vs. Oklahoma City Thunder game in Houston, Texas, on Tuesday
evening - where Scott performed before tip-off - the Keeping Up with
the Kardashians star and the hip-hop artist were spotted
holding hands and
“definitely looked like a couple.”
“During his performance, Kylie
was hiding in the Rockets’ courtside club anxiously waiting for him to come
back to her. Once he got back, they definitely looked like a couple, cuddled up
next to each other among her friends,”
says the onlooker, who attended the game
and spotted Jenner kissing Scott’s neck.
“They were super hand-holdy and
it seemed like she wanted people to see them together,” the onlooker adds.
“They haven’t let go of each other since he got off the court.”
The pair have been sparking
dating rumors after Jenner took a break from her on-again, off-again
relationship with rapper Tyga in early April.
For Coachella weekend one,
Jenner, 19, and 24-year-old Scott - who performed at the weekend musical event
- were spotted spending time together.
“Kylie and Travis made their way
to a private table, where they were joined by friends and enjoyed the deejay,”
an observer at designer Jeremy Scott’s Moschino x Candy Crush party told
PEOPLE.
“After five minutes of being in a very crowded space, Travis got up and
left the table, and Kylie followed him out with her friends following close
behind her.”
A Jenner source told PEOPLE that
older sister Kendall Jenner and Scott had “a thing” before, but that the
younger Jenner’s new romance might be an attempt to make Tyga jealous.
“[Scott] and Kylie have also
been friends for a while and they all hang out,”
said the source.
“When she and
Tyga are having drama, she tries to make him jealous by hanging out with other
guys.”
“They tend to take little breaks
all the time and then get back together,” a source previously told PEOPLE about
Jenner and Tyga, 27. “It’s definitely possible they’ll work things out again.”
Beyoncé Celebrates One-Year Anniversary of ‘Lemonade’ With a ‘Formation’ Scholarship
Recently, Beyonce’s award-winning
visual album Lemonade turned a year old. And even though it has been
critically acclaimed, played endlessly on the radio, and won tons of awards,
the celebration continues.
To mark the album’s first anniversary, Beyoncé has
founded the Formation Scholars, a scholarship that will send four select women
to college for the upcoming 2017–18 academic year.
The scholarship is a part of
Beyonce’s Beygood initiative and was created for those who are
“unafraid to think outside of the box and are bold, creative, conscious, and
confident.”
The only catch is that to receive the scholarship the
applicant has to enroll in a program for the creative arts, music, literature,
or African-American studies.
Participating schools include historically black
colleges Spelman College and Howard University, as well as Berklee College of
Music and Parsons School of Design.
This scholarship is a wonderful
achievement, but it’s just another charitable act in a long line of Beyoncé’s
giving back. Throughout her career, Beyoncé has been supportive of charitable
endeavors that encourage the education and professional achievements of young
women.
